A WORD ABOUT FOOD SAFETY AT STEEPLEVIEW FARM

Many people are just learning of the need to use more caution against germs, bacteria, viruses and fungal infections found in our living spaces and threatening our health.

Not here.

We are personally very particular about what we eat, where it comes from, how it is handled and even more so than our most discerning customers.

And we treat the food we serve you the way we would want it treated.

We are blessed at Steepleview Farm to have clean running, treated, water from the Kentucky Water Company.  And we do not spare it when it comes time to keep our food handling as clean as possible.

Of course we use only OMRI approved organic treatments on our plants anyway, and sparingly at that, always according to the manufacturers instructions.

All persons engaged in the harvest of our produce are required to wash their hands, and arms with soap and under fresh running water, before entering the field, between moving baskets and before returning to the field from out of the field.

No smoking is permitted in the field, while handling produce or in the washing and packing area.

All of our harvest baskets are food safe materials which are cleaned and sanitized before each trip to the field and then on return.

All storage trays are food grade materials likewise sanitized before food goes into them.

Our refrigeration units are cleaned regularly and sanitized.

Our cleaning station is stainless steel, our tables and surfaces are sanitized repeatedly between uses, between crops and in general several times per hour.

We sanitize all harvesting tools such as lettuce knives and containers.

However, we make it clear, all produce is sold as "unwashed" which means you should always wash fresh produce, no matter where you get it, at home and before consumption.

We are totally transparent, invite  you to come see our operation and to satisfy yourself as to the lengths we go to to do as much as we can in caring for the safety of the food we serve.

We Wish You Good Health and Thank You For Inviting Us To Be A Part Of That
